Immigrating to New York City at the age 6 was an awesome and captivating experience for Ed Cabrera; he was totally mesmerized by the size of New York, the population and the different nationalities.

One thing that really caught his attention was how so many people could wear their hair in so many different ways. So intriguing was this that whenever he visited a neighborhood he was drawn to check out the hair shops to see what type of styles were done there.

At the age of 17 he enrolled in the United States Air Force and again the issue of hair played a big role on his life. He initially saw how creative some of the military personal were in dealing with wearing short hair. Some soldiers had short hair while in uniform and when they were off duty they had long hair, the ones with Afros were the most impressive, and as a result this became Ed’s first Hair Raisin Experience.

Enrolling in beauty school while still being in military was the official beginning to Ed Cabrera’s journey in life as a hairdresser/designer, a journey that has taken him from the stages of the United Nations to so many photographers’ studios and large amount of locations for production work that he uses the word blessed to describe his journey.

Ed Cabrera has received training from Wella, Kerastase, Bumble and bumble, Aquage, Aveda, Elizabeth Arden, Rene Futerer, John Atchison and Coppola to name a few.

Ed Cabrera has worked in movie films, soap opera productions, music videos, magazine covers and layouts, fashion shows, newspapers, weddings, proms, events, politico campaigns, hair conventions, and private parties.

Ed Cabrera has worked in hair product development, including internet portals designs and served for five years as artistic director for Elizabeth Arden salon and spa in Boca Raton Fl.
